Why is it important to vote for the Right Congressional Representative?

    Q: What is a Congressperson?

A: A Congressman (or Congresswoman) is a Your Voice in the House of Representatives in Washington D.C.  The U.S. Congress is a Bi-cameral (two Chamber) lawmaking body.  All states have two Senators.  However, the number of members of the House of Representatives determined by the number of voters in a given area (called a Congressional District).  We commonly refer to their local representatives as:

    Congressman (or Congresswomen).

Q:  How large is the our Congressional district?

A:  The 3rd Congressional District is a large of well over 200,000 voters.  The district stretches east to west from Long Beach to West Islip.  North to South, the 3rd CD spans the Island from the calm shores of Glen Cove and Oyster the to the beautiful ocean beaches of Fire Island.

Q: What does a Congressperson do?

A:  Your Congressperson is supposed to speak for his geographic area in the United States legislature.  He or She is suppose to represent your interest in the Federal government.  The House usually deals with the financial matters of running the United States.

Q: Would that be our taxes?

A:  Yes, The House is charged with the management of the revenue taken in by the U.S. and the expenditures of keeping our nation running.

Q: Is that an important job?

A:  VERY!  The House investigates the needs of the nation, then takes action to meet the goals of a growing America.  The House influences Federal funding on such major governmental components such as Agriculture, Education, the Military, energy policies, Labor and employment and foreign affairs.

Q:  But the U.S. Budget deals with thousands of billions of dollars every year and Washington D.C. is 500 miles away!   Isn't easy for a person to forget about the true needs his home district while under the influence of all those Lobbyist and Party politicians?

A: Yes. That it is why we have elections every 2 years-- to make sure our Congressman still is meeting the needs of the people that elected him.

It is important for the region's voters to make sure that the District's Representative does actually represent the citizen taxpayer's interest.

    • If your Congressman sends more of our tax dollars outside of his district;
    • if your Congressman uses his position to bully and cause conflict in American society
    • if your Congressman votes against our public health care, our police services, our working labor forces, our environmental safety and the education for our children...
then vote him out of office!

If your Congressman fails to keep the economy strong, sides with the big banks, and foreign energy companies, and fails vote for programs to bring businesses, jobs and employment to Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

    Then, FIRE him!

Does our current Congressman vote for the interests of People of Long Island...

Or, are his actions guided by his party and his own personal interest in America?
